Lan Zhan isn’t particularly excited by the presence of Wei Ying. However, he is surprised by Wei Ying’s excitement as he reveals to Lan Zhan that he was sent by Xichen and wants to be his friend. Although Lan Zhan is surprised by Wei Ying’s enthusiasm, he can still be persuaded by Wei Ying’s ardent appeal.

The scene is almost too perfect. Lan Zhan turns to Wei Wuxian, who is shuffling about. Lan Xichen asks, “What’s wrong?” and Wei Wuxian almost jumps out of her skin. He then asks, “Are you not happy for them?” Wei Wuxian then recalls that he’s Lan Zhan is his uncle, and he doesn’t want him to miss out on the opportunity to kiss him. The moment is a bit of a blur, but he is still unsure of his decision.
The scene is more dramatic than it appears in the novel. Lan Zhan’s recognition of Wei Ying’s worthiness makes him a dedicated student of knowledge and he is willing to risk his life to gain more information. His thirst for knowledge drives him to seek out the knowledge necessary to break Wei Ying. This novella also has a very happy ending.
The next scene is set in the Cloud Recesses. Lan Wangji is waiting outside with a nameless cousin. The young man has broken many rules since arriving at the Cloud Recesses, including fighting without permission and hurling bad words. He is enraged and storms out of the room and into the courtyard. Upon seeing Wei Ying, Lan Wangji has the urge to make love. Then, he notices Nie Huaisang and his cousin Jiang Wanyin, both with a sour face.

We see the first glimpse of the young lovers in the midst of a cemetery, and Lan Zhan’s reaction to recognizing Wei Ying is the most touching moment in the episode. His reaction to recognizing Wei Ying was one of pain and joy, and the character’s expression was priceless. The moment that Lan Zhan finally recognized Wei Ying – a man who has long been hiding behind a tree – was heartbreaking. Though he could not have expected to meet the mysterious man, his reactions to Wei Ying’s appearance were not entirely unexpected.
Initially, Lan Zhan was in awe of Wei Ying, and even tried to save her from the cliff. After saving Wei Ying, Lan Zhan had been searching for her ever since. His reaction to seeing Wei Ying is even more heartbreaking than the fact that he had never met her before. However, the two eventually meet at the cliff and Lan Zhan’s reaction to Wei Ying’s presence is one of deep sadness.
The second character in the story, Lan Zhan, feels awkward and confused as he tries to recognize Wei Ying. He is unsure of himself and what to do, and his reaction to Wei Ying is the opposite of his usual taciturnity. In fact, he becomes chatty when he is eating, and he presses his lips together ferociously until he finishes his meal.
In the meantime, Wei WuXian is realizing that Lan Wangji is dating another girl. Normally, Wei WuXian would be encouraging her relationship with the young man, but now, he is allowing her to go her own way. But this time, he is not jealous or insecure and he is taking a week to lay it out for her.
Wei Ying looked at Lan Zhan’s face with a gleam in his eye and rose to his knees across from him. He savored the silence that surrounded his words and tried not to let Wei Ying’s glint distract him from his own words. Wei Ying’s reaction was an exaggerated expression of gratitude, which Lan Zhan didn’t recognize at the time.
Wei Ying is a masked man. He is pursuing him, but Jiang Cheng is convinced that the masked dude is Wei Ying. In fact, he is convinced that the masked man is Wei Ying and has been trying to seize him for a long time. To further confirm his theory, he used a zidian whip to separate his soul from his body.
When the two of them meet, Wei Ying notices that the boy is a mouthy little boy. He makes fun of his parents. He is incredulous at his sudden recognition. Wei Ying notices that Jin Ling is harsher and more bitter than before. Wei Ying is a charming young man, but Lan Qiren insisted that he be left alone so that his uncle Jiang Cheng could get closer to him.
Lan Zhan’s love for wei ying
Though Lan Zhan’s cold personality is hard to believe, his love for Wei Ying was very real. After learning of his reincarnation through a song, Lan Zhan was compelled to save Wei Ying. He was able to protect Wei Ying by dragging her away from danger, even when he was beaten to death. His pain at every pain he caused was too much for Wei Ying to endure, and so Lan Zhan sought to prove his love for Wei Ying by guarding him.
Lan Zhan and Wei Ying are both very physically attractive, but neither are the other’s favorite things. Their sexual attraction never fades, even when they are separated by a century. In fact, Lan Zhan is so infatuated with Wei Ying that he has kept the talisman she gave him for 16 years. Even when he could not care less for his own life, Lan Zhan still buys her alcohol. Even after Lan Zhan dies, his love for Wei Ying has not waned.
Wei Ying is Lan Zhan’s only friend who can see his true self. His love for her awakens his dormant ability to love. Although he becomes a social outcast for his obsession with Wei Ying, Lan Zhan doesn’t give up and pursues her relentlessly. This is the source of Lan Zhan’s greatest regret and his greatest love.
The love between Lan Zhan and Wei Ying starts as soon as the two of them are drunk together. They are both in love with each other, but their love for each other is completely different. The former is a romantic, while the latter is more carefree. The first time they met, the two were in the same inner robes. The second time, Lan Zhan had drunkenly stolen the jades of his nephews.
After Lan Zhan proposed to Wei Wuxian, wei ying was stunned by the drunken proposal and refused to marry him. She assumed that he would be able to make his proposal in a drunken state, but Lan Wangji refused, saying that he had known her from the start. In the end, wei ying could only see Lan Zhan’s true intentions when the two of them finally made up their minds.
Though wei ying and Lan Zhan’s love for each other was a bit shaky, it was ultimately worth it. While their love lives on as their love life develops, the angst is real, and the story is very well paced and well-written. While it is a bit sad, it is also a sweet story full of redemption. The novel is highly recommended!
