Although Douglas has a solid writing style, the story ends up being like a fan fiction of a V.C. Andrews novel. There’s nothing wrong with this premise, but it’s a bit over-the-top for my tastes.
Credence and Graves meet almost a year before Grindelwald takes over the world. As they get to know each other better, Credence realizes that he is much more than a battered boy. Unlike Graves, he’s not religious, but he can almost believe in a higher power when he meets the young priest. Now, he must decide how to keep this young priest from becoming too spiritual for him.
Getting too tangled in plot
While the story had some spark and lust, there were also some problems that made it feel like a poorly-written p*rno. I thought the writing was solid, but the plot was so messy and tangled with other details that I started to feel like I was reading fanfiction. Regardless, I was very entertained by Credence, and I recommend it to anyone who enjoys dark, forbidden, and dirty books.
